Buying Guide for 1999 Ford F150 Rear Door Latch Cable

Assuming you would like a guide on how to replace the rear door latch cable on a 1999 Ford F-150:

1. Open the door and remove the two screws that hold the wooden panel in place (these are located at the very bottom of the door). After removing these screws, gently pry off the panel.

2. Next, locate and remove the screw that holds the metal bracket in place (this is located near where the top of the door meets the frame). With this screw removed, you should be able to pull off the entire metal bracket.

3. Now reach up inside of the doorframe and locate/disconnect the electrical connector for the power window (if your truck has one).

4. Looking at the backside ofthe door panel, you will see three clips that hold it in place. Use a flathead screwdriver or similar tool to carefully pry these off – being careful not to damage eitherthe clips orthe door panel itself. With all three clips removed, pull offthe door panel and set it aside.

5a. If you have a manual window, locate and removethe four bolts that holdthe crank assembly in place – two on each side (one side will have an additional bolt holding a ground wire – do not remove this!). With these bolts removed, gently pry/pull outthe crank assembly being careful not to damage anyof its parts. Set this aside for later reassembly. OR 5b. If you have an electric window, use a putty knife or similar tool to carefully pry outthe rubber grommet that covers/protectsathe wiring harness going intoathe motor assembly (it is held in place with some adhesive so it may take a little bit of effort to get it out).
